Helping Those in Need
More than 41 million people travel through Sky Harbor every year and invariably some travelers have needs that cannot be met by ticket agents alone. For instance:
- A mother in Alaska requires a reliable person to escort her young child as he changes both flights and airlines at Sky Harbor.
- Two holiday travelers lost their tickets and have neither the money nor credit cards to replace them.
- For safety's sake and to move forward in her life, a victim of domestic abuse needs to relocate to a place where family can give important support.
- A recovering hospital patient from a distant city needs help arranging and paying for the trip home.
In cases like this and others, Sky Harbor Travelers Aid is ready to help.
Escort
Travelers Aid provides a reliable person to accompany children, elderly travelers and differently-abled people as they move from arrival to departure at the airport.
KidsCall
A partnership between Travelers Aid International and AT&T is designed to encourage young people who have run away from home to re-establish contact. AT&T provides a FREE PHONE CALL with the assistance of Travelers Aid staff.
Emergency Assistance
In confirmed cases of emergency need, Travelers Aid provides shelter, transportation, and meals.
Other Services
Through professional and volunteer staff, people requiring aid receive care and information to help with problem solving and decision-making.
Phoenix Police Department Airport Bureau
The Phoenix Police Department's Airport Bureau, while not a Travelers Aid service, is available to assist travelers and to keep the airport secure. The experienced and decorated police officers of the Airport Bureau patrol the airport on foot, on bicycles and with canines. They also provide information and direction, enforce criminal and traffic laws and security restrictions, and investigate criminal incidents. If emergency, life-saving assistance is necessary, bureau officers are all certified in the use of Automated Electronic Defibrillators (AEDs) as well. For more information on the Phoenix Police Department's Airport Bureau, visit their Web page.
If you have an emergency at the airport, please call 602-273-3311.
