District 8 Councilman Michael Johnson
The following also is provided in Spanish. Lo siguiente también es provisto en Español.
"The way in which we can best serve the people of Phoenix is by working with them. That means giving everyone a seat at the table and working as a team. It means reaching out to neighborhood leaders, law enforcement, public school districts, the courts, the county, the state and anyone else interested in meeting the challenges Phoenix now faces. Working together will improve essential services and how they are delivered, add new voices with new ideas to every discussion, help us reach consensus on better solutions and give everyone a sense of ownership and purpose for the direction in which we want Phoenix to move. The Phoenix City Council cannot accomplish much working alone. But working together with the people of Phoenix will help us meet any challenge and bring everyone along for the trip to a brighter future."
Michael Johnson retired from the Phoenix Police Department in 1995 as a homicide investigator, after a 21-year career with the department. He served as a community liaison for the Phoenix Police Department and was named Detective of the Year in 1992. He is now president and chief executive officer of Nkosi Inc., a security service. Councilman Johnson currently serves as chair of the Downtown, Economy and Aviation City Council Subcommittee and also is a member of the Public Safety and Veterans City Council Subcommittee.
