Sky Harbor Hosts President Obama and Air Force One

President Obama arrived in the Valley on Saturday, August 15, for a weekend visit that included touring the Grand Canyon and culminated in him addressing the annual national convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) on Monday morning.

Air Force One touched down at PHX Sky Harbor Saturday evening in 100+ degree temperatures. Mayor Gordon met the President and 10 media outlets were on-site Saturday evening to cover his arrival. On Sunday afternoon, five media outlets covered the President’s departure to the Grand Canyon and his arrival back into Phoenix. Nine media outlets were on-site Monday for President Obama’s departure.

Both the President’s arrival and departure at Sky Harbor again ran effortlessly with the help of Sky Harbor and Phoenix Police staff. Pictures of President Obama’s arrival at Sky Harbor are above and to the right.
