Sky Harbor Again Welcomes President Obama

On Wednesday, May 13, in triple digit heat, President Barack Obama landed aboard Air Force One just before 6 p.m. in a highly anticipated visit. President Obama, who was in town to give the 2009 Arizona State University Commencement Address, met with Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner and other Valley VIPs before heading to Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe. Thirty local and national media reporters and photographers were on-site at Sky Harbor to cover the President’s arrival.

The President returned to Sky Harbor after the speech and Air Force One departed just after 10 p.m. The Presidential arrival and departure went smoothly at Sky Harbor where high security was in place. White House staff said they were pleased with the professionalism of Sky Harbor and Phoenix Police staff and praised their operational efforts.
