Annual Jet Pull Raises Money for the Community

The highly-anticipated US Airways/city of Phoenix Aviation Department Jet Pull event took place on Friday, October 12. Teams of employees journeyed to the US Airways Hangar to raise money for the United Way.

First up were teams from US Airways followed by Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and the city of Phoenix teams. Each team vied to see who could pull a US Airways’ 100,000-pound Airbus 319 painted in the Arizona Cardinals livery the fastest.

This event is always a yearly highlight, and this year, the event’s ninth, was no exception. Many teams made special shirts for the event or dressed in costume. It truly is an event that brings employees together to do something good for the community. The city of Phoenix Aviation Department raised nearly $7,000 for the community.

From the city of Phoenix teams, the team of the 52nd Street Junkyard Dogs took first place honors with a pulling time of 4.662 seconds. They defeated two-time champs Achen-Gardner who came in second.
