Services of the PWC
The Phoenix Workforce Connection (PWC) , an affiliate of the Arizona Workforce Connection, provides employment, training, education and career-related services to businesses and job seekers in a convenient and accessible manner. Employment services are provided for:
Our services are coordinated and consolidated with other government and local agencies in our One-Stop Career Centers. The PWC also includes One-Stop Partners that provide an assortment of workforce services and referrals to customers.
Role of the Board
The Phoenix Workforce Connection is overseen by a local workforce investment board that is responsible for focusing on strategic planning, policy development and oversight of the local workforce investment One-Stop system. The board's challenge is to develop and implement a One-Stop service delivery system that can effectively coordinate and collaborate with the network of One-Stop partners, businesses, service agencies and other One-Stop workforce investment areas. See our WIA Title IB annual report for program years 2006 and 2007.
Selection of Board Members
Members of the board are appointed by the Phoenix Mayor and City Council and certified by the Governor. The members represent many components of workforce development including business, labor, public education, higher education, economic development, employment and training, city and state agencies, city and regional planning organizations, chambers of commerce, youth serving agencies and other service providers.
The Phoenix Workforce Connection Board has established three working taskforces and committees to manage the operations and performance of the One-Stop system: Board Governance Taskforce, Operations/Service Products Taskforce, and Youth Initiatives Committee. In addition, there is an Executive Committee that is responsible for formally approving the actions of the taskforces and committees and reporting the City Council and the Full Board. The Executive Committee is composed of the board chair and the chair and vice-chair of each taskforce or committee, and two members at large.
