Health Workshop on After Hours Medical Care

“Health for a Lifetime,” a series of free workshops presented by the city of Phoenix Human Services Department Senior Services Division and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, will present health information for older adults and the community.

The next workshop, “What Happens Between 4:30 p.m. and 911?” will be from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Deer Valley Community Center, 2001 W. Wahalla Lane.

Pamela W. Goslar, Ph.D., program director of Prevention and Outcomes Research at St. Joseph’s, will discuss what to do when you need medical care and your doctor isn’t “in.”

The presentation will provide a better understanding of the different levels of care available “after hours,” signs and symptoms requiring emergency care, what to take with you if you go to the emergency room and how to avoid the need for emergency care.

Goslar has 13 years of experience in injury prevention and epidemiology and has given presentations on these topics to state and national organizations.

Future monthly workshops will include information about nutrition, cardiac care and the latest cancer treatments. The workshops are free and open to the public and support the mission of the Healthier Phoenix Initiative. For more information, call 602-795-3714.
