The Housing Development Section is allocated a portion of the City's CDBG funds. The Development Section utilizes the CDBG funds for a range of housing activities benefiting different target populations throughout the community. The Housing Development Section has programs that promote the use of the CDBG funds, primarily in partnership with nonprofit agencies, for everything from home ownership assistance to housing for special needs populations. The Housing Development Section utilizes an open application process to take advantage of development opportunities as they occur. The CDBG funds are allocated according to two categories: 1) Affordable Housing Block Programs and 2) Housing Open Application Programs.
Acquisition / Rehabilitation and Limited Construction for Special Needs Populations Program - provides funding for the acquisition and/or rehabilitation (and limited construction) of housing for special needs populations. Special needs populations include but are not limited to,the elderly, children, victims of domestic violence, persons who are mentally or physically disabled and persons who are homeless.
