Description

The Phoenix Community Development Block Grant Program is an annual allocation of funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to the city. These funds are for neighborhood revitalization, housing rehabilitation, construction of facilities such as senior and community centers, small business loan programs, social services and homeless assistance. The city provides these funds to nonprofit agencies and groups through a variety of Request for Proposal (RFP) and open application programs. The programs must benefit primarily low/moderate income persons or areas.

Fight Back Program

Description The Phoenix City Council designates eight new Fight Back neighborhoods each year. The program provides specialized support and funds over a limited time period to assist with resident-driven neighborhood improvement efforts. Efforts generally focus on revitalization, sustainability, crime and blight reduction, resident participation, neighborhood leadership, physical improvements and community building.

Aesthetic Funds

Description

The city of Phoenix receives an annual allocation from Salt River Project (SRP) to assist city departments with infrastructure improvements related to capital projects. Funds are typically applied to utility undergrounding or tiling or piping irrigation ditches. Funds can also be used for aesthetic improvements such as walls and landscaping of SRP facilities. Projects are submitted by city departments and prioritized by the Engineering and Architectural Services Department. There is no open application process. Community organizations or neighborhood associations that are partnering with a city department on a construction project should inquire about these funds through the sponsoring city department.
