CONTRACTS
Several contracts exist for various solid waste services provided to the citizens of the city of Phoenix. For recycling services, including sortation and marketing of materials, the city of Phoenix has two existing contracts. One is with Hudson Baylor North Gateway LLC for the operation of the North Gateway Materials Recovery Facility. This contract is a unique example of a public-private partnership, which has both entities sharing in the risks and rewards of an innovative sorting system.
The second contract is with Recycle America Alliance/USA CRInc for operation of the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) at the 27th Avenue Solid Waste Management Facility and for marketing of the materials processed there. For information on these contracts, contact the Solid Waste Administrator, Solid Waste Contracts and Education, at (602) 256-5602 or e-mail pwserve@phoenix.gov.
A collection contract (including recycling and garbage) with Allied (Paradise) Waste exists to provide contained garbage and recycling collection to homes in Service Area 6, the south west areas of Phoenix (includes neighborhoods west of Central, South of Indian School Road). The City of Phoenix Solid Waste Field Services Division provides these same services in the other five existing service areas. Possible contracts for other solid waste services are often being considered. If you have specific questions regarding existing contracts or information on competition between the public/private sector or you would like a copy of a contract, please e-mail Solid Waste Contracts Administration and Education at pwserve@phoenix.gov.
