The 2006-07 program years for the Phoenix Workforce Connection (PWC)
Board have begun. A primary role of the board is to increase the involvement
of the business community in the development of a well trained labor
force ensuring that the workforce system prepares people for current
and future jobs. A strong workforce builds a stable economy and community.
The mission of the board is to provide workforce solutions to businesses
and individuals. Great effort is being made to focus on meeting the
needs of businesses.
The new chair for the year is Mr. Joseph (Joe) Tuerff from Manpower.
Joe has been a Board member for the past three years and shares a passion
for helping people get jobs and improve their skills.
The Community and Economic Development Department is currently recruiting
new Board members in targeted industry clusters to fill business positions
on the PWC Board. The targeted industry clusters are healthcare/bioscience,
aerospace, advanced manufacturing, information technology, and advanced
business services. The ideal board candidate will hold a position that
exercises ultimate decision making authority within an organization
and be able to serve as an active board member and be an advocate for
workforce services within the community.
If you, or someone you know meet these requirements and is interested
in finding out more about the PWC Board, please have them contact Cynthia
Spell, Deputy Director, Workforce Connection Division, at (602) 262-6776.
