PHOENIX, AZ. Deadline November 1, 2002. Phoenix Country Day School is seeking applications from artists/teachers in a variety of mediums to teach one high school elective class for one semester as a visiting artist beginning in the spring of the 2002-2003 academic year. The Art Department will consider artist/teachers in either two or three dimensional mediums. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach at the secondary level, and both a willingness to work within our flexible schedule and spend extra time on campus outside of class to accomodate students who require extra help. DENVER, CO. Deadline November 1, 2002.
The City of Denver has several public art opportunities ranging in size and mediums for the current season. Projects include paintings for interior walls, large scale site specific works, parks, and more. SCOTTSDALE, AZ. Deadline October 18, 2002. Scottsdale Community College is seeking a Coordinator of FIne Arts Facilities and Instructional Technology. The Coordinator will direct the technology and general operations of the Fine Art Division's performance and instructional facilities, including support for drama, music, general campus users and public users. Facilities include a 300 seat proscenium theater, outdoor amphitheater, digital recording studio, graphic art studio, film and television studios, and digital editing labs. Salary range is $37, 634 - $44, 690. Applications must be recieved by October 18, 2002 at 5 pm. RICHMOND, VA. Deadline November 4, 2002. The new police headquarters is almost complete. The metaphor or theme that will run throughout the building is the idea of the Thin Blue Line and the Police Motto: Excellence, Integrity, and Justice. This theme will be carried through the building in imagery and verbiage at key locations, and a thin blue line will run across the front of the building near the cornice line as well as interior signage. This call is for original artwork created specifically for the Police Headquarters. No precreated or designed artwork will be considered. Artwork should strengthen the identity of the Police facility and should create a sense of palce for both residents and visitors; it should also humanize the environment and make patrons feel welcome. CARY, NC. Deadline November 15, 2002. Cary Visual Art announces a national call for artists to submit qualifications for the Town Hall Campus Gateway project. The project is envisioned as a gateway to the Town Hall Campus that will relate to its location and reflect some of Cary's heritage and history while celebrating our bright future. Artists interested in this project must submit a letter of interest, current resume, up to 20 slides, slide list, and a list of references. MESA, AZ. Deadline October 22, 2002.Mesa Contemporary Arts, the City of Mesa's gallery of visual art is asking artists to submit slides for: 25th Annual Contemporary Crafts, a national juried exhibition celebrating the Silver Anniversary of this event at MCA. This exhibition explores the innovations taking place within traditional craft forms such as ceramics, fibers, basketry, metals, wood, glass, jewelry, papermaking and book arts. A color brochure will be produced to accompany this exhibition. Juror: Harold Nelson. Open to all artisits residing in the United States. All work must have been completed within the last five years and not exhibited in a previous MCA exhibit. $2,000 is available for awards. HUNTINGTON, NY. Deadline December 16, 2002. The town of Huntington's Public Art Advisory Committee requests submission of proposals for temporary installation of an exististing sculpture for 1-2 years in a traffic roundabout being constructed at the corner of Gerard and Clinton Ave. in Huntington Village. COLUMBIA, SC. Deadline January 3,2003.The Cultural Council of Richland and Lexington Counties seeks submissions for a public art piece to be installed at EdVenture Children's Museum in Columbia, South Carolina. Sculpture and kinetic designs encouraged, especially those that incorporate water. The budget for the piece is $50,000 including all transportation and installation costs. The placement of the commissioned sculpture is adjacent to the main entrance and its goal is to spark the imagination of the young visitors. MESA, AZ. Deadline January 28, 2003.Mesa Contemporary Arts, the City of Mesa's gallery of visual art is asking artists to submit slides for: Two Person Regional, a regional exhibition open to artists who reside in Arizona and work in any medium. This is to recognize outstanding local talent, and to exhibit two cohesive bodies of work within the framework of a juried exhibition. No prize money will be awarded; however, a color catalogue will be printed featuring the two selected artisits. Juror: Brady M. Roberts. Submit slides of up to four recent artworks, which do not have to be available for exhibition, but should be representative of the work that will be shown. Additional detail or installation shots of the work submitted, and a brief artist's statement are strongly encouraged. MESA, AZ. Deadline March 15-16, 2003.Mesa Contemporary Arts, the City of Mesa's gallery of visual art is asking artists to enter one piece of original work for: Arizona Room. This is a first come - first serve salon-style exhibition. It is open to anyone creating professional quality contemporary work. A People's Choice Award of $250.00 will be voted on by the public during the exhibition. A participation fee of $5.00 is due during installation by cash or check payable to the City of Mesa. TALLAHASSEE, FL. Various Deadlines, 2002. Florida's Art in State Buildings Program is currently advertising 14 new public art projects with submission deadlines in June, July, August, September,January, February, and March. The art budgets range from $6,650 to $68,000 and the various art selection committees are searching for a wide variety of art, from existing two dimensional interior artwork to large scale indoor and/or outdoor commissioned works. CHICAGO, IL. Open deadline. The Chicago Center for Arts Policy is seeking candidates for the position of Associate Director of a major new project, "Learning and the Arts". "Learning and the Arts," will explore the arts' contributions to improving education (K - 12) and developmental opportunities for children and youth. Its strategic focus will be the development of an active and effective network of private funders, with educators, artists and arts organizations, child service organizations, and policymakers. Its objective is to stimulate a critical mass of philanthropic support for new practice and persuasive research on arts-based strategies for improving education and child and youth services. The project has received funding from several sources, and will take place over a 3-year period. The position of Associate Director will be a highly responsible and challenging opportunity for the right person.

The Chicago Center for Arts Policy is a "think tank" for arts and cultural issues and is affiliated with Columbia College Chicago. Through research, communication, and the cultivation of discourse, the Center considers the multiple ways the arts contribute to building a robust democracy and healthy communities, and it advances policies that support these contributions. LUBBOCK, TX. Deadline Open. Texas Tech University is assembling a pool of applicants for numerous projects that will include works of art in glass. Glass artists who would like to be considered for upcoming public art projects may apply to the university's slide registry. Registry applications must include: 1) a completed application; 2)five to twenty slides of work produced within the last five years; 3)a slide list; 4)a current resume; 5) and artist statement; and 6) two professional references. The mission of the Texas Tech University Public Art Program is to create an art-rich and aesthetically stimulating learning environment. Works in the collection shall reflect many points of view in style, taste, media, and subject, as well as reflect ethnic and gender diversity. If selected, your work(s) of art will be viewed by thousands of faculty, staff, students, and visitors each year. BLAINE, WA. Deadline open. Fifth Annual Peace Arch Park International Sculpture Exhibition, May 1-September 30, 2002. Artists from the United States and Canada are invited to submit outdoor sculpture to be featured at the Fifth Annual Peace Arch Park International Sculpture Exhibition. A panel of international art experts and international park management will jury the exhibition. The criteria for selecting the art for exhibition includes artistic impression, quality, durability, aesthetic appeal, and park and community appropriateness. All materials must be completely weatherproof and suitable for public viewing. Site-specific proposals are acceptable. The top three entries will receive cash awards. A self-guided art and park history tour brochure accompanies the exhibit.

Since 1998, the Peace Arch Park International Sculpture Exhibition has featured works of art created by 36 American and Canadian fine artists. Over 500,000 people visit the historic international peace park each year. The exhibit is presented by the United States Canada Peace Anniversary Association, in cooperation with Washington State Parks. Entry fee is $10 (U.S. funds). TEMPE, AZ. Deadline open. Volunteer at the ASU Art Museum. Join the Arizona State University Art Museum's docent program. Docents help museum visitors discover art in a new and exciting way. They participate in a variety of educational programming such as leading tours, welcoming visitors, helping customers in the store, hosting special events, and assisting school-age children with hands-on art projects.
